Telemedicine-based antibiotic stewardship program in pediatrics: study protocol of a stepped wedge cluster randomized trial—the TeleKasper study

The TeleKasper study aims to implement a nationwide antibiotic stewardship program in non-university children’s hospitals in Germany. The telemedicine consultation service, which uses an app as a communication tool, will reduce overall antibiotic consumption by 20%. The primary outcome is a 20% reduction in antibiotic consumption per 100 patient days. This approach aims to promote rational antibiotic use and improve medical care for infections.
